Woodside Invites CTP to Deliver Safety Message

CTP Well Operations Crew Resource Management Training Heralded as an Example Of Good Practice

Australia’s largest oil and gas company, and one of the world's leading producers ofliquefied natural gas, Woodside recently invited Managing Director of Critical Team Performance, Phil Smith, to address an audience of around fifty senior contractors and partners at the company’s bi-annual Contractor Safety Forum held in Perth. Flown half way around the world to act as keynote speaker at the event, Phil Smith shared the important work that CTP is doing across the oil and gas industry to provide Well Operations Crew Resource Management training that will reduce incidents of human error and improve efficiency. In inviting Phil to showcase the work of CTP, Paul Sullivan, Vice President of Drilling and Completions for Woodside, was looking to highlight once more the importance of safety and the company’s commitment to zero incidents.

Phil Smith’s presentation included the work the company is doing with The International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP), which recently commissioned CTP to take the leading role in producing a global recommended practice for use by the wider Well Engineering community on land or sea based rigs and production platforms. The document is due for publication in early 2014 and aims to introduce a standardised, human factors training programme across the Well Engineering community. This is the third such event that Phil has addressed this year, being invited to speak at similar events organised by BP Azerbaijan and BG Group in Tunisia.
