Graduate Training Success For Petroleum Development Oman

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in Muscat has signed up CTP to roll out a multiple two-day programme in Well Operations Crew Resource Management, for 400 graduates on an annual basis. The move follows a successful pilot programme that ran in October last year and which will help inform and shape CTP’s latest offering. The latest programme consists of two, two-day courses per month.

Commented Managing Director of CTP, Phil Smith, “Six programmes have been delivered already and the feedback has been fantastic. Our training draws on extensive experience of working in the oil and gas industry, as well as other high pressure, critical environments, including the military, medical, aviation and engineering sectors. We specialise in the development of individual and team performance through recognising and valuing the influence of human factors and leadership.”

“We applaud the steps that PDO is taking to ensure their graduates are fully equipped for the role, both in terms of technical and not technical skills. What is put in place today through this training programme is something that will go with these graduates for their whole career – and help to make the industry a better, safer place to be in.”

PDO is the foremost hydrocarbon exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. It accounts for more than 90% of the country’s crude-oil production and nearly all of its natural-gas supply. The company is owned by the Government of Oman (which has a 60% interest), Royal Dutch Shell (which has a 34% interest), Total (which has a 4% interest) and Partex (which has a 2% interest).
