Why are you passionate about excellence?

Over the last 10 years I have become interested in Stoic philosophy as it closely mirrors the what I have grown to deeply value…..living a “virtuous” life and pursuing excellence through constant learning. I believe education, introspection and adaptation enables a cycle of continuous improvement allowing us to create constantly improving versions of ourselves. By doing this we can help to improve our communities and the organisations we work with.

Why are you passionate about people development?

Henry Firestoneonce said, “it is only as we develop others that we permanently succeed.” I have spent over 30 years helping others learn and grow and in return they have helped me to learn and grow. Every individual I help to develop allows me to see the world through a different lens, gives me a different perspective and as a result allows me greater choice. People development is a virtuous cycle that unlocks creativity, fosters confidence and facilitates problem solving.

Which three words sum up leadership for you?

Who is your Leadership inspiration and why?

Having studied for an MSc in Leadership studies I have been fortunate enough to read a lot of literature that compares the leadership styles of many historical figures and business leaders. Of these Gandhi stands out for his compassion and integrity and also Jack Welch the former CEO of General Electric who generated success by creating an organisation that constantly learned and evolved.

More recently I have been inspired by people who show everyday leadership in a more modest and anonymous way. I am privileged to work with a charity called Rock2Recoveryhelping former servicemen recover from the effects of stress related illnesses. Jamie Sanderson the Director of Rock2Recovery is inspirational due to his compassion, integrity and drive to help others.

I have a wide portfolio of skills, knowledge and experience in performance improvement at both the individual and organisational levels. I am passionate about people, their development and hence their positive contribution to an organisation.

With a long career as a military officer, engineer and training management specialist I have developed an extensive suite of qualifications and experience that I use to enhance the individual capabilities of my clients and assist them in adding value in their organisation. I strongly believe that personal fulfilment leads to greater productivity and use a holistic philosophy to maximise personal, professional and organisational development.

I have a first degree in Psychology, an MSc in Leadership Studies and Level 7 qualifications in Strategic Leadership and Executive Coaching and Mentoring and utilise theoretical constructs to develop practical, pragmatic solutions to business problems and people development.
