Why are you passionate about excellence?

Excellence for me, is the willingness and capability to look beyond the horizon and continually advance the present-day situation. Excellent leadership emanates an air of belief in a brighter future and enables the freedom for innovation and change.

Why are you passionate about people development?

We live in an age of rapid technological development and the commercialisation of products which we would have previously considered unimaginable. This in turn, increases the complexity of the way we work and demands an ever-changing business environment.

Individual development, combined with team diversity, has the potential to achieve unexpected results. Our development provides us with additional tools to challenge conventions which frame our beliefs and allow for unconventional thinking.

We are all the same, yet so very different. We are simple, yet so very complex. We are the fuel which determines the identification of new ideas and improved ways of working. We are pivotal in the exploration of uncommon sense and our continual drive for excellence.

Investment in people is a critical success factor for business innovation, growth and sustainability.

Which three words sum up leadership for you?

Inspiring - Energising - Dedicated

Who is your Leadership inspiration and why?

Charlie Morecraft:

His capability to clearly communicate an inspirational motivation for safety is second to none. Although not a top tier industry leader, his capability to connect with people, demonstrate humility and honestly directly influences the safety culture of top tier organisations.

Liam has over 12 years’ international experience in the Oil & Gas industry, spanning onshore and offshore, and has led both technically complex operational teams and projects, and business improvement programmes for both Primary Operators and Major Contractors. His experience is underpinned with a First-Class Honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering and two further Masters degrees in Engineering (MEng) and Change Management (MSc). This combination of extensive technical and business experience, and education, ideally positions Liam to support businesses with the definition, structure and implementation of large, complex change programmes.

Recent experience includes the definition and implementation of a complex business improvement programme targeting both cultural change and associated system and business process improvements with the goal of sustained, and significant, OPEX savings. The programme achieved in a major cultural shift and over $900 million of OPEX saving for an International Oil Company over two financial years.

In 2013, Liam Project Managed the initial phases and implementation of first Collaborative Working Environments globally, for an International Oil Company. Today, this project has continued to mature, leveraging a distinct cultural change, continuous core process improvements and the initial introduction of HD Video Conferencing and live data sharing. This remains a flagship project in the region and returns an increase in production efficiency of ~3% annually compared to the 2013 baseline.

Liam’s key attributes include his boundless and dynamic energy, ability to coach, leverage and develop key strengths across diverse teams, expert analytics and problem solving, and a core competency in facilitation and achieving objectives. Combined, they have enabled swift decision making and targeted performance.
